Portrait Society Gallery is excited to present Magic Mud, a group ceramic exhibition in collaboration with Project Onward, Chicago.
Project Onward is one of the midwest’s largest facilitated art studios for disabled artists. In recent years, they have enlarged their ceramic program to meet the needs and desires of more artists. The exhibition includes work by Ruby Bradford whose fascination with cats has lead to a series of animated sculptures; John Behnke who sculpts detailed, elaborate bird forms; Alita Van Hee who adds writing to the surfaces of abstracted totemic sculptures, as well as work by Cherylle Booker, Shandrewick Key, Molly McGrath, Kayla Jeane, and Adam Hines.
The exhibition will also include regional, contemporary ceramic artists working across many styles from functional pottery to sculptural works. Artists include Holly Berg, Santiago Cucullu, Brit Krohmer, Jeff Ganger, Janelle Gramling, Kate Salas, Lulu Sanchez, Jackie Shatz, Diego Sosa, Michael Ware, and others.
